FAQs

Plain answers

The questions the office hears most, answered the way the office answers them.

Where exactly is the resort?

In Valentines, Virginia, on the Lake Gaston shoreline near the Virginia and North Carolina line. About 90 minutes from Raleigh and two hours from Richmond.

Do I need a Club membership to book a stay?

No. Use Book Now to check availability online for an overnight stay. Club memberships are for families who use the resort all season. Every annual site license requires an active Club membership.

What is the resort fee?

For guests who are not members, the resort fee is $8 per person, per day for everyone over age four, or $40 per person, per week, added as its own line at booking. It covers the pool, the beaches, The Field House, and the grounds. Club members do not pay it.

What does a day pass include?

A $20 day pass for everyone over age four covers the resort during 8am–9pm: The Pool, Beachfront, the playgrounds, The Commons, and The Field House. Lanes at The Strike Club and simulator bays at The Back Nine are booked separately; no day pass is required for those reservations.

Where do I sign waivers?

With your agreement, when you book a site, a slip, or storage. Day visitors sign on site when they pick up their access band at The Welcome House.

What are quiet hours?

10pm to 8am, every day. Amplified music and loud gatherings wait until morning, and children under 16 stay with an adult in common areas after 10pm.

How fast can I drive in the park?

Five miles per hour, everywhere, unless a sign says otherwise. Kids, dogs, and golf carts share every road.

Are pets welcome?

Yes. Pets must be vaccinated, on a leash no longer than six feet outside your rig or room, and picked up after right away. Pets stay out of the bath houses, the pools, the restaurants, The Boulder House, and the playgrounds. The Dog Run at The Commons is the place to let them off leash.

Can I bring a golf cart?

Yes. Register it at The Welcome House ($150 / year, per cart), show proof of insurance, keep the park tag on it, pass the yearly inspection, and run lights after dark. Licensed drivers only, on the park roads only.

Can I bring my boat?

Yes. Launch it for the day, lease a slip on A, B, or L Pier by the year ($1,000 / year) or by the day ($30 / day), or keep it in storage between visits.

How do annual sites work?

Your RV stays on your site for the year under an annual site license. Sites start at $4,500, with site-by-site pricing available from The Welcome House. Pay in full or monthly; every annual license requires an active Club membership.

Do I have to own an RV to enjoy the resort?

No. The Cottages, The Waterfront Rooms right on the lake, The Heritage House, and the tent sites mean anyone can stay. Locals can come for the day with a day pass.

Is there food at the resort?

Latitudes on the Lake is the resort's casual waterfront restaurant. Call 434-577-2193 for current availability. Marina Market carries provisions, tackle, and ice cream. Eaton's Restaurant + Bar, inside The Boulder House, is reopening in 2027 after a full renewal.
